Case Hardened Steels
The most common fields of application for case hardened steels are: machine industry, energy industries and the vehicle industry. Beside the usual mechanical and chemical properties the steel must have:
- High wear resistance and surface toughness
- High resistance against fatigue
- High toughness against dynamic loads.
Applications for Case Hardened Steels
The manufacture of modern, long-life gears used in automotive industries use Mn and Cr alloy based case hardened steel, which can correspond to 16MnCr5 and 20MnCr5 and other equivalent steels. Various components for high load machinery component applications were manufactured.
